Gardner Powell Jumping Clinic

Gardner has been a horse trainer and riding instructor since 1989. She was an Assistant Trainer for four years at

Zuleika Farm in Los Angeles and taught at the historic Flintridge Riding Club for three years. She competed under the instruction of 1994 World Championship team member Susan Hutchison and competed at the Futures and Grand Prix levels of Show Jumping riding her own horses.

A Licensed Official since 1997, Gardner Powell is a USEF ‘R’ judge in Hunters, Equitation, and Jumpers. A lifelong student of dressage for jumping horses, Gardner has coached multiple National Champions in the Arabian Sporthorse world, and a World Champion AQHA Jumper. This year Gardner will judge the

conformation and under saddle classes for the second time at AHA Sporthorse Nationals.

Gardner competed in Horse Trials through Preliminary level and trained a jumper to Grand Prix level. She’s also coached at the National AHSA and Maclay Medal Finals. A collegiate coach at Kansas State University and University of Arizona, Gardner enjoys mentoring young riders into paths to achieve their goals in both the NCEA and IHSA formats.

The clinic will be held over three days with preference for riders who can ride all three days. There will be four groups of four riders and their horses riding for 1.5 hours each, each day. Gardner places a strong emphasis on flatwork to support and prepare for jumping, including speed, cadence, maneuverability, and suppleness. The first day will focus on flatwork and gymnastics with the following two days on flatwork, jumping, and courses.
